You can find everything about mobile device use and security tips below.

What Should Be Considered for Device Security?

Firewall Programs

  •  A firewall protects your computer and network from both cyber attackers and unnecessary network traffic. It can also prevent malicious software from accessing your computer or network via the internet.
  • The firewall protects devices connected to the network from unauthorized access. While allowing your network devices to connect to the internet, it simultaneously serves as a digital barrier by blocking unauthorized internet access.
  • Most routers come with network firewall functionality enabled. Therefore, ensure to check if this feature is available on the router in your home or workplace.
  • If this feature is inactive on your router, you can activate it through the settings menu. If your router lacks a firewall feature, consider installing a robust home firewall system to mitigate cyber risks.

Operating System and Updates

  • The operating system is a collection of system software that manages all hardware components and applications, making it easier to use your computer. For device security, it is crucial to keep your operating system and applications up to date.
  • The operating system can be uninstalled and reinstalled or replaced with another version/type after the computer is set up or at any time. It manages hardware resources on your computer and provides common services for various applications.
  • Updates to the operating system fix vulnerabilities in installed software and applications, thereby reducing security risks to your system.
  • You should use a licensed operating system and ensure that security updates are installed.
  • Applications that you load onto your system should also be licensed products, and you should keep them updated.

Antivirus (AV) Programs

  • For safe internet use, you should install either paid or free antivirus (AV) programs on your computers and mobile phones.
  • When selecting an antivirus program, ensure that it is reliable and licensed. Otherwise, you might inadvertently install harmful applications disguised as antivirus software on your computer or smart device. Determine the most suitable antivirus application for yourself by reviewing test results from trustworthy sources (e.g., 'av-comparatives', 'av-test').
  • Antivirus programs update their malware list (signature database) periodically. You should conduct scanning tests on your devices weekly or more frequently. Antivirus software plays a significant role in preventing malicious software found online or in unlicensed programs from entering your computer or mobile phones.
  •  If you frequently use internet, email, messaging, and other web services, it is essential to choose a solution that includes internet security software and technologies to make your online activities much more secure.

Physical Security

  • After completing transactions in the Internet Branch, ensure you log out securely. Failing to do so may result in unauthorized access to your device, potentially exposing your personal or financial data to third parties.
  • Do not share your password with anyone, and ensure that your screen is not being observed by third parties when entering your password on your device.
  • Do not leave your computer screen unlocked and accessible (use CTRL + Alt + Del and then Enter, or Windows + L to lock it).
  • Additional measures for securing your mobile device:
    • Use a strong and complex password/screen lock.
    • Keep your software up to date.
    • Avoid charging your device at public stations and avoid from using charging cables that you are not sure about.
    • If your device has a "Find My Device" feature, ensure that it is enabled.
    • Do not write down your passwords or save them on shared computers or browsers.
